NASW-MO Board Member Testifies on Veterans Issues

Jefferson City. On September 14th, NASW-MO board member Jonathan Jedlow MSW, LCSW (Unit-C Rep.) testified before the House Interim Committee on Veterans Mental Health and Suicide in Jefferson City at the Capitol. Jedlow, who works at Welcome Home, a veteran’s service agency in Columbia, provided reasoned, prepared testimony that included informing legislators on the education and ethics of social workers and mental health and substance use disorders in the veteran population. He then provided specific recommendations for improving services to veterans in Missouri. NASW-MO’s lobbyist, Jessica Petrie-Thelemaque supported Jedlow in the logistics of going to the Capitol for testimony.

What is Delegate Assembly?

The Delegate Assembly is NASW’s representative, decision-making body through which NASW members set organizational policy, establish program priority goals, and develop a collective stance on public and professional issues.  

The Delegate Assembly Planning Task Force (DAPTF) is responsible for developing guidelines for conducting the work of the Assembly.            

On October 6th, I will have been with NASW-MO for four months, and they have been exciting and energizing. We’re focusing on engagement and relaunching our newsletter is part of this work. Feel free to forward this to any colleagues who don’t already receive it. We encourage you to read on for more information about our good work in the upcoming months.
